The durable, lightweight, and water repellant Patagonia Barely Baggies Shorts are perfect for a day of adventures either on-trail or around town.
Once we find an article of clothing we really love we tend to wear it over, and over, and over again. And our women’s Patagonia Barely Baggies Shorts are the perfect example. Their quick-dry, DWR (durable water repellent) finish make them a great choice for wet adventures like Looking Glass Falls or Catawba Falls where we just can’t resist a cool dip. And their durable nylon resists tears and rips when scrambling across rocks or ducking through vegetation on the trail.
Our Patagonia Women’s Barely Baggies review
These shorts are part of Patagonia’s ultra-popular Baggies line and feature the same SUPPLEX nylon construction and DWR finish as the original, classic version. A shorter 2 1/2″ inseam and a lower rise are the main differences between the Barely Baggies and the classic.
Weighing just 4.2 oz, the Barely Baggies are lightweight, durable, and pack up small, saving room and weight in our bags. The shorts feature an elastic waistband and inner drawcord which offer a bit of extra security when we’re wading in the water or have gear in the pockets. The drawcord is also super useful when hanging the shorts up to dry; no need to find a hanger or clothespins.
We also really love the baggies two flat-laying side pockets. They stay in place and don’t bunch up when walking, running, or bike riding which keeps us on the move and not continually adjusting the shorts. The pockets are made from polyester mesh and drain quickly after a swim. The Barely Baggies also feature an elastic key loop in the right front pocket to keep keys secure and a hidden top-entry mesh pocket as well.
And while functional, the Barely Baggies are stylish, too. Little details like side slits on each leg and a small Patagonia logo on the left side let us easily transition from on-trail adventures to our favorite brewery with friends.
Patagonia Women’s Barely Baggies Shorts review wrap-up
Lightweight, comfy, and durable, these shorts are a perfect companion for backpacking, camping, or exploring Asheville’s waterfalls. Their water-repellent DWR finish and tear resistant SUPPLEX nylon make the Barely Baggies one of our favorite picks for warm-weather adventures in the South.
