DURABLE, WATERPROOF, + BREATHABLE
This is one of our new favorite boots! The Bridger delivers a comfortable, stable, and supportive fit with waterproof protection. The leather upper features a B-DRY waterproof layer to seal out water from creek crossings and wet weather while remaining breathable, and wicking moisture away from our feet. The super grippy outsole features wide lugs for ultimate traction, and the cushy midsole protects from rough trail under foot. And the molded rubber around the toe and heel adds an extra safe guard to injury prone areas.
Layer it On
Simply put, we love the Capilene baselayer system from Patagonia. These long-sleeve and short-sleeve mens shirts are soft and comfy as a base layer, and work perfectly as outerwear after the day warms up. They’re breathable and fast-drying, making them awesome for active outdoor activities. And Capilene is available in a range of weights, from lightweight to heavyweight, to ensure comfort in a wide range of temps.
WATERPROOF & BREATHABLE
This is one amazing hiking shoe! The Terrex Fast Mid GTX Surround provides a comfortable, stable ride and a waterproof, yet breathable, GORE-TEX layer. The shoe has plenty of grippy traction and offers great mid-height ankle support and protection. We love the GTX Surround design which allows heat to escape the shoe from both above and below the foot, perfect for the South’s heat and humidity.
ALL AROUND FAVORITE
We’re big fans of KUHL’s Renegade line of pants and shorts for both on- and off-trail adventures. The Renegade Short offers a stylish, comfortable fit, and the durable Tufflex fabric dries quickly, and provides enough stretch for full-range motion on the trail. These are easily our favorite pair of shorts for just about anything from hiking to kayaking, to grabbing a post-adventure lunch and a beer.
The Phoenix Mesh Lo hiking shoe provides the ultimate in ventilation for hot weather treks. The split leather and mesh upper give the shoe plenty of breathing room when temperatures climb, and dry quickly should we encounter a creek or stream crossing. It’s pretty much the perfect hiking shoe for the South’s legendary summertime heat. And the super grippy sole provides plenty of traction.
MADE IN THE USA + GUARANTEED FOR LIFE
Darn Tough socks are nearly indestructible and darn comfortable – and they’re unconditionally guaranteed, for life! Fast drying and wicking merino wool keeps our feet comfy and dry, even on the longest adventures. Sizes, thicknesses and heights are available for just about any type of outdoor activity.
The Hemp Donner’s mix of stylish design and technical performance make it a great shoe for casual hikes and urban exploration alike. The comfortable, breathable shoe is constructed of eco-friendly recycled polyester and hemp. It features a durable rubber sole with wide lugs for impressive traction. The Donner has been our go-to for easy hikes through the Piedmont Park and catching brews at our favorite breweries in Asheville.
LOCALLY-OWNED IN ATL
How many times have we lost sunglasses at the beach or on the water? (Seriously, we’ve lost count.) So we were super excited to find these stylish floating frames from a super awesome, outdoor-focused local Atlanta company. Rheos Gear offers wide range of styles, colors and lenses to match your adventure style.
The LOWA Irox GTX Mid Trekking boot offers firm support, excellent shock absorption, and a grip that keeps us confident on difficult terrain. The boot’s synthetic, abrasion-resistant upper provides awesome ankle support keeping us steady when scaling rocky trails and steep descents. The breathable, waterproof Gore-Tex lining keeps feet dry when temps rise or when crossing streams, and the LOWA Elika outsole provides superior traction and plenty of cushion from rocks and stones on the trail.
WEATHER RESISTANT & BREATHABLE
Out on the trail, the Stio Vescent Soft Shell Jacket works as hard as we do. The comfortable microfleece lining keeps us warm and snug, while the weather resistant outer shell blocks the wind and keeps us dry during rainy adventures. The Vescent is also remarkably breathable, keeping us dry when we’re powering through tough terrain.
The Flyloft Vest is the perfect layer for our often-unpredictable weather here in the South. This ultra-comfortable synthetic-fill vest delivers plenty of warmth for those chilly sunrise hikes, and then packs down into its own pocket when temperatures climb later in the day. A high collar seals out the wind, and two deep zippered side pockets provide plenty of space for keys, a cell phone, or chilly hands. The baffled construction gives the vest a stylish, tailored look that’s perfectly suited for adventures on the trail or around town.
LIGHTWEIGHT + DRY SUPPORT
The LOWA Sesto GTX Mid hiking boot is lightweight, supportive, and comfortable… and quickly becoming one of our all-time favorites. The MONOWRAP frame technology provides excellent foot support, and the mid height upper keeps ankles comfortable and protected on the trail. The boot’s sole provides plenty of protection from rocks and roots, and extra grippy tread keeps us sure-footed over any terrain. And with a Gore-Tex lining, the Sesto keeps us dry, no matter the weather.
ULTIMATE WAMTH ON THE SLOPES
As with all of our Stio gear, we absolutely love the Durrance Jacket. This jacket keeps us toasty through the coldest adventures on and off the slopes. Featuring a two layer waterproof, breathable shell and water repellant 650-fill down insulation, the Durrance is designed for ultimate warmth and dryness. An adjustable, down-filled hood and powder skirt are both removable. The Durrance is an all-around amazing winter jacket, perfect for the ski slopes and around town.
This is definitely one of those pieces that you won’t want to take off. The super soft sweater knit fabric is comfortable, warm, and surprisingly breathable when active on the trail. The KUHL Ryzer is the perfect midlayer when paired with a puffy or waterproof rain shell, or a great top layer on mild spring mornings. Thumb locks keep the sleeves in place, and the quarter zip makes adjusting ventilation quick and easy. The Ryzer’s stylish fit and detailing make it one of our go-to grabs for a day on the trail, or around town.
It’s easily one of the most comfortable pants we’ve worn – on trail or off. The KUHL Renegade effortlessly spans trail to town, with a relaxed wear that moves easily on the trail, and detailed styling that wears well on a post-hike run for fuel and a brew. And the Renegade’s moderate weight is perfect for Georgia’s moderate winters.
The Gannett Peak Jacket from Stio is one of our favorite, ultra-comfy midlayers, for on-trail performance and around-town style. We love its wicking outer layer and soft fleece inner lining. The jacket’s elastic cuff, hood and center draft flap keep the elements out, and keep us comfy on the move. And the jacket’s chest pocket is perfect for stashing keys, cash or ID.
Streamlined and Stable
The Lowa Innox GTX Mid has quickly become one of our go-to boots for just about any outdoor adventure. The Innox GTX is waterproof but breathable, keeping us dry and warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The durable, grippy sole keeps us firmly planted on the trail in challenging terrain, and its streamlined profile and light weight (only one pound each) allows us to keep up the pace without extra weight and bulk.
There’s nothing better than pulling on a super soft, comfy fleece on a cold winter morning. The KUHL Interceptr ¼ Zip Fleece is made of super lux Alfpaca Gold fleece for ultimate softness and comfort, while maintaining a surprising level of breathability when we’re out and active.
STYLE AND FUNCTION
We love the Stio Alpha Alpine Pullover for its versatility. This stylish and functional pullover takes us from trail to town throughout the seasons, thanks to its ultra breathable Polartec Alpha Active insulation. From spring bike rides on the Silver Comet, to fall hikes on the Appalachian Trail, and weekend brunch with friends, the Alpha Alpine Pullover has us covered and comfortable.
From one of our favorite local brands, Wander North Georgia, this classic trucker hat will keep you looking stylish on the trail or around town. The hat features a wool blend crown, mesh back with snapback, 3D embroidery, and comes in multiple colors and styles.
LOOKING GOOD AND FEELING GREAT
It’s not often you find a piece of gear that looks as amazing as it works! The KUHL Spyfire does just that. The 800-fill, ethically sourced, goose down and weather-resistant outer shell keep us toasty in even the toughest winter weather. And the Spyfire’s slim fit and details take us from trail to town looking stylish, too.
COMFY AND GRIPPY
We love kicking off the hiking boots and slipping on the Oboz Selway Flip sandal after a long day on the trail. The EVA midsole provides just the right cushioning for an ultra-comfy feel, while the grippy, rubber outsole keeps us sure-footed on wet or slippery terrain. The Selway Flip has been our go-to for casual days around town, post-hike relaxation, and bumming in the backyard.
FAST PACED & WATERPROOF
The LOWA Aerox GTX Lo Surround has been our go-to for lighter days on the trail here in the hot, humid South. The GTX Surround technology allows heat and wetness to escape the shoe through ventilation channels in the midsole, keeping us cool and dry from both inside and out. The lightweight, low shoe lets us keep up the pace while providing comfortable support and protection from rocks and roots underfoot.
All the Warmth without the Puff
A handsome shell wraps around low-bulk Primaloft insulation to keep us toasty warm, on trail and around town, and features incredibly soft-lined hand pockets. Everywhere we’ve worn it, the Lofted Sky Jacket performs well, wears well and remains ultra-comfortable in temperatures ranging from mildly chilly to downright cold.
