The Denizen Limited 18L Tote Backpack is perfect for grabbing a few groceries, commuting across town, or hitting the trail. Inside, the durable, water-resistant bag features a 15″ laptop sleeve, zippered pocket, and plenty of space for books, snacks and water, or hiking gear. HAUL IT ALL
The Tepui Expedition Duffle Bag provides plenty of space for all of our car camping equipment. The super durable duffle is constructed of heavy duty canvas and covered with a synthetic resin making it abrasion resistant and easy to clean. Two comfy hand-held straps or a padded shoulder harness let us comfortably carry heavy loads, and the reinforced bottom panel adds to the bag’s durability. It’s tough, roomy, weatherproof, and perfect for hauling camping gear.
DURABLE, WATERPROOF, + BREATHABLE
This is one of our new favorite boots! The Bridger delivers a comfortable, stable, and supportive fit with waterproof protection. The leather upper features a B-DRY waterproof layer to seal out water from creek crossings and wet weather while remaining breathable, and wicking moisture away from our feet. The super grippy outsole features wide lugs for ultimate traction, and the cushy midsole protects from rough trail under foot. And the molded rubber around the toe and heel adds an extra safe guard to injury prone areas.
TUCKED IN TIGHT FOR THE NIGHT
There’s nothing better than chilling out in our ENO Hammock. And now the ENO Ignitor TopQuilt takes the chill out of chilling out. The ripstop nylon shell features a DWR finish to protect against the wet, and water-repelling DownTek insulation blocks the cold (and unlike untreated down, retains its warmth even when it meets moisture). Paired with theENO Blaze UnderQuilt, we’ve got the perfect system for cold weather ENO adventures.
THE PERFECT OUTDOOR BLANKET
There’s nothing more comforting than snuggling up under a warm, soft blanket. Rumpl’s Puffy blends the technical performance of a sleeping bag with the convenience and comfort of a blanket. The soft, lofty blanket is perfect for car camping adventures, concerts in the park, or just relaxing in front of the fireplace, watching the snow flurries.
AGILE TRAIL RUNNER
The Agility Peak Flex keeps us moving on the trail with a super comfortable, cushiony ride. The shoe’s outsole features heavy duty lugs providing excellent traction over a range of trail conditions and the molded heel keeps us in control on tight turns and steep descents or inclines. Mile after mile the Agility Peak Flex provides a comfortable, stable fit and excellent traction and control.
The ultimate in car camping luxury! The Sierra Designs Frontcountry Bed is the perfect way to rest up after a full day of adventure. The sleeping bag’s innovative, zipperless design features an integrated comforter with hand pockets, allowing us to comfortably sleep on our backs, sides, or stomach. It’s the perfect bag for those that just can’t get comfy in a traditional mummy style sleeping bag.
ULTRA COMFY, STABLE, AND RUGGED
Hello, comfort. The Challenger ATR 3 provides a comfortable ride on rough terrain as well as paved roads and groomed trails. The supportive midsole offers a cushiony feel while the rugged outsole’s wide lugs keep us sure-footed over whatever trail conditions we run up against. And the breathable mesh upper lets our legendary Southern heat escape as we rack up the miles.
WATERPROOF & BREATHABLE
This is one amazing hiking shoe! The Terrex Fast Mid GTX Surround provides a comfortable, stable ride and a waterproof, yet breathable, GORE-TEX layer. The shoe has plenty of grippy traction and offers great mid-height ankle support and protection. We love the GTX Surround design which allows heat to escape the shoe from both above and below the foot, perfect for the South’s heat and humidity.
BREATHES EASY. SHEDS WEATHER.
Out on the trail, the Stio Vescent Soft Shell Jacket works as hard as we do. The comfortable microfleece lining keeps us warm and snug, while the weather resistant outer shell blocks the wind and keeps us dry during rainy adventures. The Vescent is also remarkably breathable, keeping us dry when we’re powering through tough terrain.
LIGHT AND STABLE
The Terrex Agravic packs stability, comfort, and control into a fully trail-worthy, lightweight running shoe. The outsole features wide, grippy lugs that keep us stable and in control over mixed terrain, wet trails, and rocky conditions. The midsole offers energy-cushioning and plenty of protection from rocky terrain in the mountains, while the upper remains breathable even in the South’s warm summertime temps.
FOUL WEATHER PROTECTION
The stylish, comfortable, and versitile Modis Anorak jacket keeps us warm and dry when bad weather threatens our adventures. The pullover-style rain jacket stops rain and wind in its tracks thanks to waterproof fabric, fully taped seams, and Aquagaurd zippers. One large front zipper allows for quick venting and outerwear changes, and two zippered side pockets are perfect for protecting phones, keys, and other small gear from the wet. And once the rain clears, the Modis packs up small, perfect for stashing in a backpack.
The Phoenix Mesh Lo hiking shoe provides the ultimate in ventilation for hot weather treks. The split leather and mesh upper give the shoe plenty of breathing room when temperatures climb, and dry quickly should we encounter a creek or stream crossing. It’s pretty much the perfect hiking shoe for the South’s legendary summertime heat. And the super grippy sole provides plenty of traction.
BRING THE CREW
The Sierra Designs Summer Moon 3 provides plenty of space for three people – while weighing only 4 lbs. The freestanding tent features two arched poles that help increase the interior dimensions for roomy headroom. Easy-to-use pole clips make set up and tear down a breeze. The tent’s rain fly creates a large vestibule with tons of space for boots, bags, and gear, and a large door makes for easy entry and exit.
FAST PACED & WATERPROOF
The LOWA Aerox GTX Lo Surround has been our go-to for lighter days on the trail here in the hot, humid South. The GTX Surround technology allows heat and wetness to escape the shoe through ventilation channels in the midsole, keeping us cool and dry from both inside and out. The lightweight, low shoe lets us keep up the pace while providing comfortable support and protection from rocks and roots underfoot.
FITS LIKE A GLOVE
This shoe’s superior fit and comfort keep us on the trail and on the move. The shoe’s BOA closure system creates a secure fit with the twist of a dial, and the MONO-SOCK construction helps keep irritating trial dirt and debris out of shoe. Underneath, the GEL-FujiRado’s outsole provides plenty of grippy traction across a range of trail conditions, while the midsole and Asics Barefoot GEL Technology offers ample shock absorption and protection from rough terrain. This is one amazing technical trail shoe that’s kept us running over just about any Southern terrain.
LIGHTWEIGHT + DRY SUPPORT
The LOWA Sesto GTX Mid hiking boot is lightweight, supportive, and comfortable… and quickly becoming one of our all-time favorites. The MONOWRAP frame technology provides excellent foot support, and the mid height upper keeps ankles comfortable and protected on the trail. The boot’s sole provides plenty of protection from rocks and roots, and extra grippy tread keeps us sure-footed over any terrain. And with a Gore-Tex lining, the Sesto keeps us dry, no matter the weather.
PREMIUM BIKE MOUNT
The Yakima HighSpeed bike mount transports mountain, road, and fat-tire bikes on our roof rack, securely and safely. The mounting hardware fits most roof racks, including our much loved Whispbar roof rack system. Loading is quick and easy thanks to the TorqueRight knob, and optional SKS Locks secure the bike and mount to the roof rack.
These shoes are everything we love about Mizuno’s Wave Rider, but wrapped in a waterproof GoreTex lining for wet-weather runs through puddles and shallow creeks. The 20 G-TX also includes an updated Wave plate and an extra grippy outsole. We’ve been running in our Riders for over a decade, and just fell in love all over again.
On most adventures we travel with laptops, tablets, camera gear and small electronics to help document our life on the trail. We’ve found the Pacsafe Travelsafe perfect for keeping everything secure while on the go. The Travelsafe features a slashproof, metal mesh in the outer fabric panel, stainless steel locking cable, and 3-dial combination lock to thwart would-be thieves. It’s great for use in hotel rooms, in the car, or on the go.
The lightweight Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Ultra features an insulated layer on top and bottom of the pad, keeping us warm and comfortable on cold overnight adventures. A high volume air valve makes inflating and deflating quick and easy, and larger outside tubes keep us centered on the pad all night. There’s nothing like a comfy snooze under the stars.
STYLE AND FUNCTION
We love the Stio Alpha Alpine Pullover for its versatility. This stylish and functional pullover takes us from trail to town throughout the seasons, thanks to its ultra breathable Polartec Alpha Active insulation. From spring bike rides on the Silver Comet, to fall hikes on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia, and weekend brunch with friends, the Alpha Alpine Pullover has us covered and comfortable.
VERSATILE TRAIL RUNNER
Altra thouroughly impressed us with the Lone Peak 3.0 trail running shoe. The Altra Lone Peak 3.0 features an extra-wide toe box, zero-drop platform, and a moderate cushion for comfort on the trail. The built in StoneGuard adds protection from rocks and roots, and the MaxTrac outsole provides a solid grip over rough terrain.
CLEAN AND EFFICIENT
The second-generation BioLite CampStove features 50% more power, an updated LED interface, and an integrated battery that allows USB charging, even with no fire. The adjustable-speed fan helps control the intensity of the flame, so boiling water or cooking dinner is fast and easy. And unlike most stoves, there’s no heavy fuel canisters to carry: just find a bundle of small sticks, and we’re cooking in no time.
SAFE AND SECURE
The Intasafe helps keep laptops, tablets, documents and small valuable safe and secure while chasing adventure. The pack features anti-theft technology, including slashproof straps and outer panels, RFID blocking material, and locking zippers and anchors. We love this pack for big-city travel and urban exploration, and international adventures, too.
LOOKING GOOD AND FEELING GREAT
It’s not often you find a piece of gear that looks as amazing as it works! The KUHL Spyfire does just that. The 800-fill, ethically sourced, goose down and weather-resistant outer shell keep us toasty in even the toughest winter weather. And the Spyfire’s slim fit and details take us from trail to town looking stylish, too.
This shoe’s extra-wide toe box, zero-drop platform, and ultralight weight are unlike any running shoe we’ve tried. The Superior 3.0 is our first experience with Altra running shoes – and certainly won’t be our last! The extra-wide FootShape toe box and Zero Drop platform help our feet and toes spread out naturally, and promote low impact contact with the trail. The shoe fits comfortably right out of the box.
WARM AND WOOLY
This is our first experience with an ibex product and we are thoroughly impressed! It’s an amazing base layer for extra cold adventures, or a great pullover for warmer weather. The Merino wool blend retains an amazing amount of heat while remaining breathable. The thumbholes keep sleeves in place when worn under a heavier outer layer, and the collar and hood keep the wet and cold out where they belong.
The Gannett Peak Jacket is one of our favorite, ultra-comfy midlayers, for on-trail performance and around-town style. We love its wicking outer layer and soft fleece inner lining. The jacket’s elastic cuff, hood and center draft flap keep the elements out, and keep us comfy on the move. And the jacket’s chest pocket is perfect for stashing keys, cash or ID.
HIT THE ROAD
We’ve covered some serious mileage in our Wave Riders over the past decade, and have loved every step, from easy jogs through Piedmont Park to epic distance training on the Silver Comet Trail. The Wave Rider is breathable, lightweight and offers plenty of support underfoot to take us wherever the pavement leads. (And, did you know? Mizuno USA is based in Atlanta!)
We can’t get enough of the Power Dry! This versatile mid-weight pullover is perfect for layering with a waterproof outer shell or puffy during wet, wintery weather – or as a top layer during milder temps. The center zipper opens deep for excellent ventilation during heavy activity, and the quick drying polyester-wool blend wicks moisture away, keeping us dry and comfortable.
We love the REI Kingdom Table for our car camping adventures. It’s decadently large but still light enough to easily load, unload and move about the campsite. It folds up easily and stores compactly in a durable, handled duffle bag – and offers ample seating for four.
SWEET DREAMS UNDER THE STARS
The lightweight REI Half Dome 2 is our go-to tent for backpacking trips. This award-winning classic from REI features a roomy interior that’s large enough for two adults to comfortably sleep and sit up. Large pockets at both ends offer ample storage, and two vestibules offer outdoor storage for backpacks and muddy boots. And setup and teardown? A breeze.
Streamlined and Stable
The Lowa Innox GTX Mid has quickly become one of our go-to boots for just about any outdoor adventure. The Innox GTX is waterproof but breathable, keeping us dry and warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The durable, grippy sole keeps us firmly planted on the trail in challenging terrain, and its streamlined profile and light weight (only one pound each) allows us to keep up the pace without extra weight and bulk.
Detail, design and comfort
This jacket is simply amazing. It’s loaded with little details that make this jacket one of our favorites for cold weather adventures. The Retro Hoody’s weatherproof outer layer, brushed fleeced liner and drawstring hood and waist keep us warm and dry when weather hits. The jacket also features thumbholes to keep the sleeves in place, and a double zippered front that makes layering easy and comfortable.
This vest is thoughtfully constructed with comfy, durable fabric and 650-fill water repellent HyperDRY™ goose down, making it ultra layer-worthy. And the overall style and colorblocking make it super versatile and ready to go from town to trail all winter long.
The Sugarpine from Ahnu delivers performance, style and stability in a waterproof hiking boot. We’ve loved the way these boots have kept our feet dry and comfortable while trekking through some serious Georgia winter weather, on and off trail. This versatile boot is one of our go-to faves for mid-length hiking adventures, or anytime we see the forecast calling for wet weather or soggy trails.
This shirt is quickly becoming one of our favorite pieces for cool weather days on the trail or around town! The Buckhorn’s soft flannel and sturdy metal snaps keeps the wind out – and the warm in. Reinforced elbows and cuffs give it a rugged yet sophisticated look. It’s perfect on the trail – or out grabbing coffee on a brisk fall afternoon.
Ultra-comfortable. Ultra-breathable. We’ve long been fans of Osprey backpacks, and the Stratos 24 lives up to our high Osprey expectations. With an innovative ventilation system, the Stratos 24 provides maximum breathability, great for Georgia’s toasty-warm summers. (Women, check out the Osprey Sirrus 24 Pack.)
Keeping it cool
The 28 liter Airlite pack from Deuter is one of our favorite choices for warm weather day hikes in the South. Its flexed frame and ventilated mesh back support keeps the mountain breezes flowing, and our backs cool and comfortable. The 28 liter capacity is roomy for a day hike, offering plenty of space for hiking necessities, plus room to spare.
We love this modern update to a classic favorite! There’s nothing like a comfy fleece hoodie on a frosty morning, but Stio has upped the game with the Sweetwater Fleece. A stylish cut and feminine details like ruched collar, contrasting zipper and drop tail hem make this a versatile piece for hitting the trail or hitting the town.
There’s nothing that kills an awesome outdoor adventure faster than wet feet. The Vasque Inhaler GTX is one of our top choices when planning a wet weather trek; from splashing through Jacks River in the Cohutta Wilderness to chasing waterfalls at Amicalola Falls, these boots have it covered. They’re waterproof and breathable, thanks to the Gore-Tex lining.
Super packable and light weight, the Minimalist Rain Jacket from Marmot is one of our favorite hard-shell jackets for the trail. Serious attention to seam detail and a Gore-Tex lining makes this shell completely waterproof and perfect for an unexpected downpour. And zippered underarm openings are great for ventilation when we’re on the move.
All the Warmth without the Puff
A handsome shell wraps around low-bulk Primaloft insulation to keep us toasty warm, on trail and around town, and features incredibly soft-lined hand pockets. Everywhere we’ve worn it, the Lofted Sky Jacket performs well, wears well and remains ultra-comfortable in temperatures ranging from mildly chilly to downright cold.
LOWA delivers stability and dependable traction in the Renegade GTX Mid, a high-end hiker that’s well-equipped with a waterproof Gore-Tex lining, a grippy Vibram Evo outsole and a host of thoughtful design details.
AN OUTSTANDING TRAIL RUNNER
Ashley Walsh, ultra-marathoner and frequent Atlanta Trails contributor, swears by Mizuno Wave Kazan trail running shoe. The Kazan’s light weight and traction-packed sole keep her planted on the trail and moving over varied terrain. (And, did you know? Mizuno USA is based in Atlanta!)
Gear for Good
A fleece that keeps us warm and does good for the world? We’ll take two! This fleece looks so comfortable we don’t think we’ll ever want to take it off. With it’s Polartech Powerstretch construction, it seems ultra-warm, and we love that it comes equipped with thumbholes, a hoody, and a slim fit. Plus, through a partnership with Radiating Hope (radiatinghope.org), with each purchase, a patient in Senegal gets a cancer treatment. Amazing.
KEEPIN’ IT CLEAN
Jake loves to join us on every adventure, but usually manages to brings wet fur, mud, and trail grit along as well. The 4Knines Luxury Cargo Liner is the perfect way to keep our SUV in presentable condition. The liner is soft, comfortable, and easy to clean – and it folds up neatly for quick, compact storage when Jake isn’t tagging along. It’s quilted and nicely padded, too, to offer a comfy ride on bumpy gravel forest roads. A no-slip backing and buckling straps helps keep it securely in place, and a fold-out flap helps prevent bumper scratches when Jake is jumping in and out of the car.
Six inches of lofty comfort stuff the inside of this plush dog bed that’s equally at home in our bedroom, at a campsite and in our office. Jake loves the adjustable comfort of the Urban Sprawl, from firm to soft with a flip of the bed. We love the built-in carrying handle that makes transportation a cinch, and the bed’s removable cover that makes cleanup easy.
Thank you for your support! - the Trailful crew
