GEAR FOR GOOD
We’ve been longtime fans of the Cotopaxi Inca backpacks, and we’ve been loving the Luzon 18L Daypack, part of the new Del Dia line. The bag is lightweight, easy to pack and has plenty of space for water bottles, snacks, and other small gear. Cotopaxi gives each fabricator complete control over the bag’s colorway, so each backpack is unique and no two are alike. We’re also huge fans of Cotopaxi’s brand, quality, and their mission to help make the world a better place.
LIGHTWEIGHT & HIGH QUALITY
The Swedish-made Morakniv Eldris Knife is a staple in our adventure bag. Weighing only 2.8 oz, this pint-sized knife easily stashes in a backpack or cargo pant pocket. The super-sharp stainless steel blade measures 2.3 inches, and the knife’s spine is compatible with a fire starter. The Eldris features a grippy polymer handle, and the included sheath keeps the blade locked away when not in use. It’s the perfect knife for tasks around the campsite and out on the trail.
Keep It Organized
The Sea to Summit Ultra-Mesh Stuff Sacks are a staple in our hiking and camping bags. They’re a great way to keep small gear organized, contained and all in one place – and the see-through mesh makes it easy to find small gear at the bottom.
Keeping it cool – or hot
This Klean Kanteen bottle keeps hot drinks steamy for 14 hours and cold drinks icy for up to 40 hours. These colorful, stainless steel bottles feature a double wall insulation for long lasting temperature control and a leak proof lid to prevent messy spills. They’ve been joining on us on all of our adventures, from steamy to frosty and everywhere in between.
X MARKS THE SPOT
Hiking with a physical map and compass is important in the event we lose cell service or GPS power. And the National Geographic Trails Illustrated are our favorite: they’re water and tear resistant, trustworthy and easy to read.
Ultra-comfortable. Ultra-breathable. We’ve long been fans of Osprey backpacks, and the Stratos 24 lives up to our high Osprey expectations. With an innovative ventilation system, the Stratos 24 provides maximum breathability, great for Georgia’s toasty-warm summers. (Women, check out the Osprey Sirrus 24 Pack.)
We’ve been longtime fans of the Green Goo First Aid salve. All of Green Goo’s products are made without artificial ingredients – only all-natural botanicals, herbs, and essential oils. One of our favorite products is the Outdoor Travel Pack which features lip balm, first aid salve, pain relief salve, and insect repellant. It’s the perfect Green Goo starter kit and has become a staple in our camping and hiking bags.
This lightweight, versatile backpack is durable, well-designed, and, well, simple. It’s the simplicity that makes the REI Flash 18 pack one of our favorite backpacks for short hikes, urban exploration, day trips, and pretty much everywhere the load is light.
Keep It DRY
Our adventures take us through a range of terrain and weather, so we never leave home without a dry bag or two. The Seat to Summit Ultra-Sil Dry Sack comes in a range of sizes to keep our electronics and gear safe and dry, whether we’re fording rivers, caught in an unexpected downpour or soaking up some sun on our paddleboards.
ULTRA-TASTY TRAIL SNACKS
Trailfoody delivers outstandingly delicious trail foods and snacks – right to our door. Every month’s box is packed with different healthy trail favorites like dried fruit, trail mix, jerky, crackers, energy bars, and more. We love Trailfoody for the selection (many are brands and flavors that we’ve never tried), taste (the snacks are all seriously delicious), and value (each box is priced at a discount off MSRP). Customize your box based on the number of outings per month and group size – and like magic, tasty trail-friendly snacks show up, ready for your adventures.
Full-Featured Technical Pack
Simply put, we love Cotopaxi gear. Cotopaxi products are thoughtfully designed and ruggedly constructed, and the Inca backpacks are no exception. The Inca 16L is a full-featured technical day pack that features streamlined design and great on-trail comfort. (Looking for a larger pack? Check out the Cotopaxi Inca 26L for roomier storage and even more features.)
The ultimate hiking camera strap
The Peak Design Slide is the ultimate camera strap. It’s easily adjustable, well-padded, and streamlined, and it features a quick-connect system that makes swapping camera bodies or straps a cinch. It’s durable, strong, and stays comfortable, even on all-day photo shoots and double-digit mileage days on the trail. Bottom line: we’ve hiked thousands of miles in these straps, and we love them.
Keep hydrated out there: the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter ensures safe drinking water when out in the wilderness. The easy-to-use straw filter removes 99.9% of protozoa and bacteria from questionable water sources. LifeStraw filters up to 1,000 liters of water and weighs only two ounces, making it an easy stash in a backpack or emergency kit.
ICE ICE BABY
A must-have for wintertime adventures! The Kahtoola MICROspikes make trekking on icy or snowy trails a breeze with 12 stainless steel spikes per foot. The pair fit into an included travel tote for easy and convenient packing in a bag, pocket or backpack.
