The Oboz Bridger B-DRY offers firm support, aggressive traction, and excellent stability in a breathable, waterproof, mid-height hiking boot.
The Oboz Bridger Mid solidly performs on a range of trail conditions and terrain. This durable, mid-height waterproof hiking boot has carried us over wet, muddy trails, sandy river bottoms, and steep, rocky terrain, while keeping us sure-footed and in control, and keeping our feet comfortable and dry through it all.
From hikes on the boulder-strewn trails of the Shining Rock Wilderness to exploring sandy river beds at Dupont State Forest, we’ve found the Bridger to be capable, comfortable, and a top choice for a range of hiking and backpacking adventures.
Our Oboz Bridger B-DRY Mid hiking boot review
Right out of the box we noticed the boot’s rugged exterior. The wide spaced lugs, rubber reinforcements at the toe and heel, and generously padded ankle collar and tongue give the impression of a serious boot made for serious adventures. And that’s exactly what we found with the Bridger.
The boot’s full leather upper provides sturdy support for the foot and ankle but, for us, required some break-in time, but by mile five or so, the leather around the ankle collar began to loosen up considerably and give way to ample comfort. After the initial break-in period, the boot provides a comfortable fit that seems true to size. The generously-padded upper offers excellent support and keeps us stable when hiking over harsh terrain and provides plenty of ankle protection from rocks and obstacles on the trail. And a durable rubber toe and heel cap add extra protection to sensitive areas.
Nothing can ruin a great hike faster than soggy feet, and we’re happy to say we’ve stayed perfectly dry in the Bridger. The B-DRY waterproof system keeps our feet dry when fording shallow streams or encountering wet vegetation on the trail. The system not only protects our feet from outside moisture, but from inside as well: the breathable membrane wicks away moisture keeping our feet dry and comfortable.
On the trail, the boot’s traction-packed Granite Peak outsole really shines. The wide lugs provide an incredible grip on loose soils, gravel, rocks, and wet, muddy trail, and a nylon shank keeps the boot stable on uneven surfaces. And side lugs provide extra traction when climbing over boulders and steep terrain.
Inside, the dual density EVA midsole provides a firm footbed which offers excellent protection from rocks, roots, and rough trail underfoot. For a comfortable ride, the Bridger features Oboz’s O Fit insole. It’s a really comfortable insole that provides strategically positioned EVA pods for cushioning, sculpted arch support for a neutral stride, and a wicking top layer to help keep our feet dry.
