Camping Gear

There's nothing like a great night under the stars. Our favorite camping gear picks include our favorite tents, furniture, cookware, sleeping bags and sleeping pads for a perfect, cozy time at the campsite.

Camping gear: reviews of our favorite tents, sleeping bags, cookware, lighting and chairs

Finding the perfect campsite site. Unpacking the car and setting up the tent. The smell of the campfire. The slow-moving hours that seem to pass as if they were entire days. There’s something amazing about a great camping trip, made all the better by some well-designed and crafted gear. And not to say that it can’t be done on a budget, but after foiling far too many perfect trips with leaking tents, broken tent poles and sleepless nights, we’re big believers in quality camping gear.

We’ve tested and used our favorite gear over scores of overnights and long weekends at the campsite, and feature some of our favorites in our camping gear reviews. We’re huge fans of roughing it out on the trail on a great backpacking trip. But to us, a car camping adventure offers the flip side of backpacking: weight conscious, minimalist backpacking gear is swapped for roomy comfort and campsite luxury. It’s the perfect place to chill for the weekend, down a frosty brew, and settle in for some great food, ‘smores, good company, and lazy relaxation.

We highlight only our favorite tents, cookware, sleeping bags and pads, and supplies – those that have stood up to our rugged adventures and many nights under the stars. And for more of our favorites, check out our camping gear gift guide.
